Archives Management Division Objective To ensure that records of enduring value are acquired, safeguarded, preserved and made available to the general public. Functions To design and oversee the implementation of acquire public records of enduring value from public offices and private sector and take charge of the National Archives; To develop, monitor, arrangeand describe suitable conditions for the preservation andconsultation of archival holdings and provideappropriate guides, lists, indexes and other finding aids to facilitate access; To inspect and obtain copies of public records in the National Archives or any other archival repository; To monitor and coordinate publications for records and archives management and prescribe rules for researchers/users whoconsult Archival materials at the National Archives or any other archival repository; To supervise and monitor conserve and restore damaged archival materials and dispose public records in the National Archives if they seems not to have enduring value; In collaboration with local and international organizations to enter into agreements for the joint management of records and archives; To develop strategies on acquiring library materials of archival nature (Hansards, Law Reports, Government Gazzettes, Professional Journals and Articles etc); and To monitor and maintain a National Archives library. This Division will be led by a Director and will comprise two Sections as follows: Repository Section and Technical Service Section
